The sun’s shining, birds are singing – all you need now is a refreshing cool drink to tickle your tastebuds and quench your thirst! Move over iced coffee and iced matcha – there’s a new kid in town.
So why is iced chai a great alternative to your usual iced coffee? They’re both lattes, they’re both delicious and refreshing. Iced chai is lower in caffeine, packed with delicious whole spices – and ours is also sugar free! As a vegan company we love to champion vegan recipes, so here we’re sharing our signature Vegan Iced Chai Latte recipe, two ways.
Iced chai latte is where it’s at on a hot summer’s day
There’s nothing better than sitting down in the scorching hot sun to sip an ice-cold, creamy, spicy-sweet iced chai. There are actually two ways to make iced chai latte – and you only need three ingredients for both!
Iced chai latte ingredients
- Aura Chai Original or Vanilla Blend
- Sugar or sweetener of choice (we recommend agave syrup, coconut or date sugar, vegan honey or a flavoured syrup if you’re feeling fancy)
- Milk of choice (we recommend coconut milk, soy, or oat)
Psst – you can use our Turmeric Chai Blend for iced golden milk, too!
Iced chai latte – method 1 (easy infusion)
Okay, so this method is the quickest and easiest. The chai won’t be as strongly flavoured, but it will still be totally delicious! It will take you less than 5 minutes to make this delicious vegan iced chai recipe, using just three ingredients.
1/ Add 2 tbsp chai blend to a jug and add 150ml freshly boiled water. Add around 1tbsp sweetener to taste.
2/ Leave to brew for 3-5 minutes.
3/ Strain over ice, then top up with cold milk, stir and enjoy!
This iced chai method can also be made in advance! Simply add 6 tbsp chai blend to one litre of hot water and leave to infuse for up to an hour. Strain into an airtight glass bottle and use whenever you like – simply pour 100ml into a glass over ice and top up with milk for a super quick vegan iced chai! This homemade concentrate will last for up to a week provided it’s kept in a cool dark place or a fridge.
Iced chai latte – method 2 (traditional method)
This is the traditional method of brewing chai, with a twist. It takes a little more time and patience – but it’s a ritual you’ll want to learn if you’re a true chai lover.
1/ Add 1-2 tbsp chai blend to a small saucepan or chai pot.
2/ Add 150ml hot water and 200ml milk along with your sweetener of choice to taste.
3/ Heat until simmering and brew for 3-5 minutes (depending on how strong you like your chai)
4/ Strain into a jug and leave to cool for a few minutes.
5/ Pour over ice, and serve!
Iced Chai Latte Optional Extras
You can further spice up your vegan iced chai latte with some delicious added extras! Choose your faves and add to taste:
Vegan whipped cream: Soy or coconut-based vegan whipped cream is the perfect topping for your vegan iced chai!
Cinnamon sugar: Blend fine coconut sugar with cinnamon powder for a gorgeously sweet, spicy topping for your chai.
Flavoured syrup: It’s not traditional, but who doesn’t love a bit of a treat every now and then? We find caramel, vanilla syrups work best with
Blended ice: Frappe-chai, anyone? Instead of pouring your chai over ice, add it to a blender with ice chips and blitz for a few seconds for a sweet, spicy slushy.
